All that glitters

Fireworks don't excite me much anymore; a three-hour fireworks display in Japan broke me, I guess. So last Saturday night I was too busy doing my own thing to bother watching Riverfire kick off the River Festival. But these photos of Riverfire taken by Marty Pouwelse are amazing. Hurrah Brisvegas and all who sail in her etc.

Mm, I tried taking photos last year with my new digital camera, but there's just a big pink haze. I like the fireworks that come from the top of the sky scrapers... especially from that big dark grey one near Roma street that looks slightly evil - like the tower in Ghostbusters 1 that was built to channel evil spirits (I don't know how else to describe it). It looks a little bit as if those big ugly monster-boxes are going up in flames. Still, I think ten minutes is long enough for a fireworks display.

Oh I know that building!!! I've always called it Gotham Tower because it's looks so Batmanish (or like the Ghostbusters one too!). I love it yet it creeps me out all at the same time. At least it's interesting. More interesting than the usual boring leggo block skyscrapers we have. Or that weird building there erecting on the corner of Adelaide & George (? I think). It's the one with the big diagonal lines in super bright colours. How is that one gonna turn out?!

Yeah good pics. I've been through a couple of Japanese firework marathons too so know the feeling.
Do love the dump and burn though have to admit - makes the whole thing worthwhile for me.
